Our tax preparers are experts in individual income taxes and have worked with a wide array of tax situations. You can rest assured that you will receive every credit and deduction you are entitled to. No stone is left unturned.
We prepare the following types of individual federal returns:
1040EZ, 1040A, 1040 Individual Income Tax Return
Form 1040 is the form that every individual taxpayer (and their spouse, if married filing jointly) must file with the Internal Revenue Service each year to report their income and figure the tax they owe for the previous year. Forms 1040A and 1040EZ are shorter, simpler versions of Form 1040 that can be used for certain taxpayers with an uncomplicated tax situation.
1040X Amended Individual Income Tax Return
This form is appropriate for correcting errors, claiming a deduction or credit that a taxpayer was eligible for but didn't claim, or reporting income that was not included on a previously filed return.
4868 Extension of Time to File
If you feel you won't be able to gather your tax information by the filing deadline, you can file an extension. This will push your filing deadline to mid-October. Please note: this is an extension of time to file, not time to pay. If you expect to owe taxes, it's generally better to file before the April deadline, if possible.
We prepare income tax returns for the following types of businesses:
Partnerships, Form 1065
C Corporations, Form 1120
S Corporations, Form 1120S
Limited Liability Companies (LLC), Varies
In addition to the above returns we also prepare the following payroll tax returns for employers:
Employer's Quarterly Federal Tax Return, Form 941
Employer's Annual Federal Unemployment Tax Return, Form 940
Minnesota Withholding Tax Return
Minnesota Unemployment Tax Return
There are a variety of tax strategies that are appropriate for different business entities. Figuring out the right one for your business can require an in depth understanding of the Internal Revenue Code. S Corporations and Partnerships are considered pass through entities, and in many cases don't pay tax because the tax liability is passed out to the shareholders or partners. C Corporations are subject to double taxation, as they must pay tax on their earnings, and shareholders must pay tax on dividends from the corporation. An LLC may choose to be taxed as a sole proprietor (self-employed individual), partnership, or corporation depending on the type of business it conducts and how many members it has.
We can advise you on the best tax strategy for your business year after year. We will ensure that you are in compliance with federal and state regulations so you can avoid hefty penalties & fines,
protecting what you have worked hard to grow.
These types of tax returns can be very complex and require a deep understanding of tax law. If you have been appointed as the executor or trustee of an estate, we will work with you to prepare the tax return correctly, saving you time and stress.
Because these types of returns are generally more complicated, we appreciate you calling our office before your appointment to discuss your situation and organize your documents.
Are you withholding enough tax from each paycheck? How will selling your home affect your taxes next year? What if you decide to start your own business? Will retirement change your tax bracket?
The future holds many possibilities, and most of us don't consider the tax consequences of every life decision... until there's an unpleasant surprise. Through our tax planning services we can advise you each year on how to take advantage of a beneficial tax strategy, or avoid a tax nightmare.
In addition to tax planning, we offer some retirement and estate planning in conjunction with your attorney. Feel free to ask about these services when you set up your appointment.
We stay current on economic and financial news, and can supply you with a variety of resources to make sense of your money. Our goal is to empower you.
This refund/credit is available to eligible taxpayers who paid rent or property taxes during the tax year. For renters, it's called the Property Tax Refund, for homeowners, it's called the Homestead Credit.
We can prepare this form for you even if you are not required to file a tax return for the year in which you're claiming this refund.
